# Spend Caps

Spend caps let workspace owners control paid usage.

## Cap Types

- monthly total cap
- category cap, such as runtime compute or bandwidth

## Actions

When a cap is reached, the workspace can:

- notify
- warn
- block new paid operations
- pause public traffic

Free workspaces do not use spend caps to allow paid overage. Free usage is
blocked before it can create unapproved spend.

## Guest Protection

Public deployment traffic is checked before guest sessions are issued. If a
workspace is out of guest budget or public traffic is paused, new guest sessions
are denied before additional cost is accepted.

## Editing Caps

Workspace billing settings expose spend-cap controls. Changes are recorded for
audit and apply to new reservations/admissions immediately.
