# Upgrades And Downgrades

Plan changes are coordinated through the billing dashboard and Stripe Checkout
or Customer Portal when payment credentials are configured.

## Upgrades

Upgrades take effect immediately. The local billing ledger records proration
metadata, and Stripe handles invoice/payment collection for configured
subscriptions.

## Downgrades

Downgrades are scheduled for the end of the current billing period. Existing
usage events keep the plan snapshot that was effective when the usage was
admitted.

## Cancellation

Cancellation keeps the current plan active until the period end. The workspace
then transitions to Free.

## Payment Failure

Stripe handles dunning. Local subscription state follows Stripe webhook updates
and configured past-due policy.
